R3 million striker close to being axed?

Lorch Orlando Pirates

Lazarous Kambole could soon find himself clubless should his form not improve according to Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt.

Kambole joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2019 with much expectation from Zesco United however the attacker has struggled to find his footing at Naturena and this won’t be tolerated for much longer at the club with a valuable foreigner spot being wasted.

Kambole has scored just once in 28 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs while failing to register a single assist either and Gavin Hunt has urged the attacker to raise his game or risk facing the boot at the Amakhosi.

Kambole still has one more year left on his contract but he’ll have to take a quick lesson from the likes of Zimbabwe’s Edmore Chirambadare, Uganda’s Godfrey Walusimbi, Ghana’s James Kotei and Namibia’s Virgil Vries who all faced early exits at Naturena in order to free up international spots after lackluster performances.

Hunt issues Kaizer Chiefs ultimatum to Kambole

“On Lazarous, for me, you’ve got to do better. I don’t see enough at training, comes on tonight, he’s got to do better,” Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt said regarding Kambole.

“I wanted to start him but I think with the two guys [Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic] – they work well together and played a lot together last year. So I think in that position, we know we are obviously short but he’s got to work harder and do a little bit more, without the ball as well.

“Sometimes you come from a different country with a different mentality and he’s got to work harder here. I like him, there’s no problem with him, but we need a little bit more from him as a foreign player at Kaizer Chiefs. I always emphasise that.”
