IEC urges media, CSO’s to apply for accreditation to monitor voter registration process

IEC urges media, CSO’s to apply for accreditation to monitor voter registration process

Njie said this at the second IEC stakeholder forum at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre on Thursday.

Mr. Njie explained that applying for the accreditation doesn’t mean one should interfere with the work of the electoral staff during the process. He, however, advised journalists to report any irregularities to the commission.

“The journalists (media) are not the police. You are a monitor,” he emphasised.

The IEC recently announced that the general voter registration to be held between 29 May to 11 July 2021.

According to the IEC, during the registration period, the process will commence at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. daily.
