Court Detains Exam Leak Suspect – Kenya News Agency




A secondary school teacher arrested in Homa Bay County over exam cheating is to remain in custody for four more days pending police investigations.

            The Homa Bay court ordered the 32-year-old tutor, Calvin Magolo to be remanded for 4 more days for investigations to be completed.

            Magolo is suspected to be part of a syndicate behind leakages of the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in Nyanza region.

            The court issued the order Thursday after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers requested for more time to allow them continue interrogating Calvin Magolo over the exam malpractice.

            Homa Bay Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Monica Berege said that they requested for more time for the suspect to give them more information on the people he has been conspiring with on exam leakages before being arraigned in court.

            Magolo who is a teacher at Nyagwethe Secondary School in Suba Sub-county was arrested by DCI Wednesday evening in Mbita Town for allegedly perpetrating exams cheating in the Nyanza region.

He is accused of being the chief supplier of examination materials in the Southern Nyanza region comprising Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties.

Magolo is expected back in court on 13th April 2021 to take a plea.
